Award-winning filmmaker Liz Marshall directs The Ghosts in Our Machine through the heart and lens of acclaimed animal photographer Jo-Anne McArthur. The film follows Jo-Anne over the course of a year as she documents several animal stories in parts of Canada, the U.S. and in Europe. Each story and photograph is a window into global animal industries: Food; Fashion; Entertainment and Biomedical Research. This visually arresting one-of-a-kind documentary shines a cinematic light on the animals we don’t easily acknowledge.
The Ghosts in Our Machine made it to the 2013 master list of 151 Oscar Qualifying Docs and recently played sold-out dates in New York and Los Angeles, following a super successful world premiere at Hot Docs 2013 (voted a Top 10 Audience Favorite).
“The Ghosts In Our Machine is an eye-opening and heart-warming portrait of the invisible animals in our society,” says Greg Rubidge, President of Syndicado. “We are looking forward to getting more eyeballs on this important film.”
